Off late, I have been having lot of discussions on Gender bias. Well, the discussion would start as gender bias, but it always ends up emphasising the role of each gender. I thus, cherish every discussion that i have had with my friends, as there is always a lesson that is learned in the end.
Right from my childhood I have always had the confusion on "why I was born?"... well, to people whom I would try discussing this would think am too grown up for my age to ask such philosophical questions. so here comes the answer... when for past few weeks I have been discussing with a person about gender bias and other relevant topics! It was an eye opener!
In the begining of the discussion, I had this inner anger being pushed out of my mouth trying to yell "why do you men have so much of superiority complex, and no respect for women!?!"
Well, my frnd asked me a simple Q- "Why do women have problem in being women?"
Now, that was a question which I faced for the first time in my life. And further discussions made me understand lot of things about what men expect from women.
So what exactly is being a woman?
1. She has to be the peace keeper of the family and not the problem maker.
2. She has to keep her family as first priority, let what happen!
3. She has to assist her husband in his decisions. (and never question him on his decision<--- should be avoided most of the times)
4. If she feels man is committing a mistake in his decision, she should only "suggest" and not force him to do it!
Well, these are the basic few expectations that men expect from women. These have been followed by women for all these years (of course exceptions are always there). But it is becoming a matter of debate and arguement in many places starting from schools and colleges to media and parliament, because the women of this era wants to be man's partner and not his assistant. she wants to be his guide and not a mere caretaker of his house and a mother to his children. She wants to take responsibility more than what the men in past generations have assigned to her.
Well, this is difficult to be accepted by men.How can someone who has been the ultimate power in his family and occupations accept another person to share his responsibilities? especially, when that another person is a woman! Well, here comes the EGO. Men are born egoistic. now! Dont argue that u know many women who are egoistic too. I agree there are hardcore egoistic women. But what matters here is, who shows it "more"?
So what is the confusion here? Man is also sometimes a confused individual. He needs money, power, and fulfillment of his needs. For this fulfillment of his basic needs, he needs a woman beside him. Alas, some men accpet this. Some dont accept this, and some others accept with a sense of superiority. (LOL)
So here are born the so called Chauvinist people. these people do not want to accept the possibilities that a woman can perform well. Even if they do, they dont wanna see it, but only see the negatives of a woman. One can also call them the negative pessimistic people. I will never appreciate or even listen to a chauvinist person because his opinions are not worth valuing, as it is just an outcome of a prejudice!
Rather, a Man who says a woman should complete her household duties and also respects and values her talents can be respected lot more than a Chauvinist.
Men have issues about the entire concept of "women empowerment". Women empowerment is the voice of the women centric population of the society. Any such voice out is focussed on certain basic issues. This women empowerment concept has mainly evolved cuz of eve teasing, and insecurity for women in the society. gradually the demand for security in society tilted towards financial security and other such things!
Well, Have not men evolved from being a farmer to being entrepreneurs and other such jobs? Similar is the demand of women for a status of living which also improves their life style and occupation.
Many men want their wives to work and earn for their family. There are few who dont want them to. So this is just an opinion driven by prejudice that women empowerment and better life style for women should not be encouraged.
As a conclusion, I also feel that, women too should know how to be and how not to be in this society filled with chauvinists, chauvinists hidden under feminist, and men who accept women as they are. So just keep it very mandatory to complete the works that the society wants us to do. :)
Further wishes that we women want to get completed .... will be done if God wants it to be done!...
